MUSTANGS CLINCH HISTORIC BRONZE IN UCCL DEBUT

CLB Mustangs continue to carve its name in the sports history books. Coming in for their 4th tournament of the season, it was evident that they have shown progress beyond compare. In their United Collegiate Championship League (UCCL) debut, the squad made a gallant stand to cop the bronze medal in the competitions after trouncing Philippine Christian University, 107-102 in the battle for 3rd. Aljhay Sigarra once again proved his class with another Mythical Five showing and landing his 4th Most Valuable Player plum in as many tournaments after taking the ones from Makiling Cup, LCUAA and BUSCAA.

The challenges of having two simultaneous tournaments at the same time may have been evident but despite having to juggle between BUSCAA and UCCL, the Mustangs once again made it clear that they are a force in the basketball area in the region. Kudos to the great student athletes.

CLB STAMPS ITS MARK IN BUSCAA

Colegio ng Lungsod ng Batangas made its presence felt in the recently concluded 24th Batangas Universities, Schools and Colleges Athletic Association (BUSCAA) as it announced to the rest of Batangas that they are keen on being one of the frontrunners in the collegiate athletic scene in the area. The college’s campaign was highlighted by the victory of the CLB Mustangs Men’s Basketball Team who won their 3rd title in as many tournaments by stamping its class against BSU Spartans. Aljay Sigarra, a sophomore BSBA student also secured his 3rd MVP Plum for the season after showing consistent and explosive performance in every game for the Mustangs.

But as the CLB Mustang’s male hoopsters lorded over the competitions, other CLB athletes also showed that the college is soon to be a force to reckon with. The Chess team delivered 2 medals coming from Julianna Almero who copped the gold in her board while recent LCAA champ Christine Canlas taking on the bronze. Badminton also provided for cheers to the college as two of its players landed in the podium with Aldrin Catapang copping silver in the men’s division and Gerralym Villanueva snatching the bronze. Volleyball both in the Men and Women’s division also showed promise as they made it difficult to the perennial achievers in the sports together with some solid performances from the Table Tennis squad.

The results just shows that 2023 is turning up into a big year for CLB as it continues to challenge the giants in the sporting world of colleges. The recent BUSCAA is an announcement that the Mustangs have certainly arrived – and such presence was vividly felt. Congrats to all the CLB athletes.
