CLB conducts orientation for athletes, parents ahead of new sports season

The Colegio ng Lungsod ng Batangas (CLB) conducted an orientation on Monday, Aug. 4, for student-athletes and their parents to prepare them for the upcoming athletic season.

The orientation aimed to align athletes, families, and coaches with the responsibilities, expectations, and values of CLB’s athletic program, carrying the theme “Alagang Gabay sa Tagumpay.”

Sports Director Andrew Brian B. Deguito, in his opening remarks, underscored the importance of parental support and athlete discipline as key elements in building a successful and value-driven sports community.

The program highlighted the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for athletic scholars, led by Mr. Deguito, Assistant Coordinator Jacobson Labay, and Mr. Gail B. Magalang, Head of Office of Student Affairs, explaining the scholarship benefits, student-athlete obligations, and institutional expectations.

Dr. Lorna L. Gappi, College Administrator also delivered a message expressing full support for student-athletes and encouraging holistic growth in both academics and sports.

Key members of the Sports and Development Office were introduced during the ceremony, including Mr. Deguito, Mr. Markdon A. Bathan, Coordinator for Other Sports, Basketball Coordinator Alfonso Victorio Lualhati, and Mr. Labay.

Coaches and varsity players from basketball, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, chess, athletics, and combat sports were also introduced to strengthen familiarity and rapport among students, families, and staff.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Lualhati emphasized the importance of discipline, teamwork, and pride in representing the CLB Mustangs.

The event concluded with a shared commitment to developing student-athletes grounded in integrity, excellence, and mutual respect.
