CLB Claims First Runner-up at Batangas-Wide Business Quiz Bee

November 29, 2024 - Colegio ng Lungsod ng Batangas continued stomping its mark in the field of academics as three of its students - Christian Rey Sumanga (BSBA IV-2), Julianna Rose Thereze Almero (BSBA IV-1) and Morie Josh Untiveros (BSA IV-1) finished first runner-up in the recently concluded 4th Batangas-Wide Business Quiz Bee. The competitions were hosted by Batangas State University - The National Engineering University Lipa Campus.

A total of 7 schools participated in the contest that showed the business expertise and acumen of selected business students ranging from Management, Marketing, Finance and Accountancy - CLB, Lipa City Colleges, NU-Lipa, St. Bridget College, STI Batangas, STI Tanauan and UB – Lipa City. The triumvirate of Sumanga, Almero and Untiveros showed that CLB is indeed a force to be reckoned with in the world of academics as well. Achievers in their own rights, every member of the team did their fair share in ensuring CLB finish amongst the top in the contest. BSBA Program Chair Eunice De Guzman assisted the students in their path towards capturing one of the top spots of the competitions. National University - Lipa topped the event and was declared the champion with Lipa City Colleges taking 2nd runner-up.

Soroptimist Premiere Hosts Awarding Ceremony for Outstanding CLB Students

November 28, 2024 - Soroptimist International Batangas Premier holds the awarding ceremony at Colegio ng Lungsod ng Batangas, CBA Simulation. The Management Committee (ManCom), Dr. Anabelle Perez, Dr. Maria Corazon Castillo, Dr. Rosanni Del Mundo, Vice President for Research and Extension, Planning and Linkages, Dr. Retchie Guico, Dean of College of Education, Mr. Andrew Brian Deguito, Vice President for Administration and Finance, and Mr. Allan Lualhati welcomed the Soroptimist.

Ms. Elsie Basco, served as a master of ceremony, the event began with the prayer led by Engr. Allyzza Nichole V. Maranan and followed by the welcome message by Mr. Andrew Brian Deguito on behalf of Dr. Lorna L. Gappi, College of Administration and a heartfelt appreciation of Ms. Jackie Beloso who left a phrase “Not just for work, not just for initiative but a fulfillment of our heart".

The chosen stories who touch and inspired the judges are Ms. Leabelle M. Lazo, Ms. Beathem M. Villoria, Ms. Myca Jane D. Mabugnon, Ms. Princess Venus Gamboa, Ms. Jenelyn Cantos and the LYD 1st Runner-up Ms. Anabel A. Falceso. Ms. Anabel Falceso was interviewed about what she felt after knowing that she won, "Nung una po ay nag-overthink po ako, dahil po kase anim lang po kami, total po kase namin ay pito,ay sabi po si Mam Allyzza, dalawa na daw po ang pinaglalaban, ako at tsaka yung isa daw po namin, diba po ay nag overthink ako tapos pito po kami tapos anim lang po yung nasa list, tapos nun matapos po akong mag overthink, ay nung natawag po ang aking pangalan, nabigla din po ako dahil hindi ko naman po akalain na ako yung winner po ng soroptomist." she said.

Soroptimist International Batangas Premier is Blessed that in small actions and initiatives, it lightened the expenses of the students. Soroptimist organizations are looking for more deserving students who will value financial assistance.

16th Annual Seminar and Quiz Bee for Pre-Service Teachers: Fostering Futre-Ready Educators in CALABARZON

November 22, 2024 - The PAFTE IV-A CALABARZON Annual Seminar and Quiz Bee for Pre-Service Teachers, held at the Batangas City Sports Center-Coliseum, gathered 54 schools and universities under the theme “Future-Ready Educators: Harnessing AI for Learning Excellence.” Hosted by St. Bridget College Batangas, the event highlighted AI’s transformative role in education.

Notable speakers included Dr. Freddie B. Bulauan, Officer-in-Charge of CHED Regional Office IV-A, who emphasized the importance of ethical and innovative AI integration in teaching, and Dr. Aris E. Ignacio, Dean of Southville International School and Colleges, who explored AI’s potential in personalized learning and collaboration. Representing Mayor Beverly Rose A. Dimacuha, Dr. Mary Ann E. Antenor inspired participants with a call for collaboration in advancing the teaching profession.

The Quiz Bee featured outstanding talents, including Jhenie Mendoza and Princes Mariane De Torres, 4th-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) students, and Yishin Dane Gutierrez, 3rd-year BEEd student.

Winners of the Quiz Bee:
Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation-Lucena secured first place.
Sta. Teresa College earned second place.
Southern Luzon State University-Lucban claimed third place.

The event underscored the dedication of CALABARZON’s pre-service teachers to innovation and resilience in shaping the future of education.

CLB Welcomes Tanauan City Colleges: Collaborating for the Future

November 22, 2024 - Colegio ng Lungsod ng Batangas warmly welcomed Tanauan City Colleges as they paid their visits at the college. After ushering them at the Audio-Visual Room (AVR), the visitors were treated to a welcoming Putongan dance from the CLB Culture and Arts.

The Tanauan City Colleges delegates were welcomed by Dr. Lorna L. Gappi, College Administrator together with the Management Committee - Mr. Andrew Brian Deguito, Vice President for Administration and Finance, Dr. Dolores D. Borras, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Rosanni Del Mundo, Vice President for Research, Extension, Planning and Linkages and Dr. Mary Ann E. Antenor, Executive Vice President. Mr. Jericho S. Alay, Assistant Coordinator for Institutional Communications served as host for the program. To formalize the discussions and sharing of best practices between the two College Institutions, they proceeded to the Quality Assurance Office led by Dr. Lorna L. Gappi. A small tour within the campus was also conducted to show them of the school facilities.

The Colegio ng Lungsod ng Batangas is grateful and blessed that the Tanauan City Colleges chose to visit the institution. The school is looking forward to more collaborations and deeper understanding between the two collegiate institutions.

CLIMB Organizes First Ever Media Conference

CLIMB, the Student Publication of Colegio ng Lungsod ng Batangas (CLB) engaged their first ever Media Conference at the Audio Visual Room (AVR), last November 18-20, 2024. An exciting 3-day event happened in the institution which every member of the publication joined.

The CLIMB event welcomed distinguished speakers from various fields, including Mr. Neil Tayao, a professional photographer; Mr. Christopher Dela Cruz, Co-Founder of the American Institute for English Proficiency - Philippines; Mr. Alduz Clark Viray, school paper adviser; and Mrs. Van P. Villena, a Palakat Batangas City broadcaster. Faculty members Dr. Vivian Perez, Ms. Corazon Arcega, and Mr. Reydel Panopio also contributed significantly. The conference commenced with speeches by Dr. Lorna Gappi, College Administrator, and Dr. Mary Ann Antenor, Executive Vice President. Following this, Mr. Marcus Castillo and Mrs. Rose Lacsamana shared insights with the student journalists. The event featured a competition covering various writing disciplines, including news writing, photojournalism, and editorial writing.

In the end, Julianna Thereze Almero earned the highest score in the English category, while Mark Joseph Magpantay was recognized in the Filipino category.
