CLB students clinch awards in CBMS convention and data festival; event spotlights role of data in governance

Colegio ng Lungsod ng Batangas (CLB) students clinched top awards in the Provincial Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) convention and data festival held on September 8–9 at Quest Hotel, Tagaytay City.

The two-day event carried the theme “Ready, Stat, Go!” highlighting the power of data in building resilient and well-governed communities.
Djannah Armanda Valdez was declared champion in StatShots, a pre-event contest that tested storytelling skills through data and lens.
André von Valencia secured third place in VizWiz, an on-the-spot data visualization competition.
Along with the winners, CLB delegates included BEED student Yishin Dane Gutierrez and their adviser, Ms. Joan Atienza.
Other contests featured Report It Right, StatisTiktok, and PSA Survey Says, which challenged participants in data reporting, communication, and digital content creation.
In addition to the competitions, the convention also offered plenary sessions and breakout talks underscoring the value of disaggregated data in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Speakers emphasized that grassroots-level data collection allows local governments to be more agile, responsive, and resilient in addressing community needs.
Delegates from Batangas and Cavite, including students, local government officials, and data advocates, participated in the gathering.
Capping the event, organizers emphasized that the convention was not only a celebration of winners but also a call to harness data as a foundation for evidence-based policymaking and sustainable development.
