CLB inaugurates new facility, Mayor Marvey announces another building by next year

Colegio ng Lungsod ng Batangas (CLB) inaugurated a new facility with five classrooms to accommodate more than 500 students and strengthen its commitment to quality education during a ceremony on Tuesday, September 16.

The said new facility is equipped with air conditioning units, new chairs, tables, and whiteboards, and can accommodate up to 45 students per classroom.

In his message, Mayor Marvey Mariño shared his vision of expanding CLB’s reach, saying, “Our goal is to make CLB one of the best institutions that provides quality education for our youth, and I encourage our students to focus on their studies..."

He announced that another building will rise by next year to accommodate the school’s growing number of students.

Dr. Lorna L. Gappi, College Administrator, expressed her gratitude to Mayor Marvey for implementing the project, describing him as an “action man” for the swift execution of initiatives that contribute to the city’s progress.

She assured that with the mayor’s support, the quality of education at CLB will remain high as they are committed to its vision of "Creating Lifelong Builders." "Although it is called a temporary facility, it does not look temporary," she added.

Also, with the continued support of the City Government, Dr. Gappi introduced two institutional programs: Program EBD MAM (Educating Brilliant Dreamers, Merit-Based for Mastery), a scholarship initiative granting 7,000 to senior high school graduates who rank Top 1 to 3 in their schools on top of the city allowance, and Program CLEAR (College Literacy Engagement and Advancement in Reading), which provides guidance and attention to students struggling with reading and comprehension.

She further announced that aside from the existing eight curricular programs, three more will soon be offered — Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, and Agri-Industrial.

“When students come, we accept them; when more teachers are needed, we hire them; and when new classrooms are needed, we build them," Ms. Maria Corazon Castillo, Dean of the College of Business and Accountancy, highlighted, proving the mayor’s promise.

On the other hand, Student Executive Council President Reyner De Guzman encouraged his fellow students to maximize the opportunities offered by CLB to achieve their dreams.

Alongside Mayor Marvey and Dr. Gappi, Vice Mayor Alyssa Cruz, Board Members Hamilton Blanco, Doc Jun Berberabe, members of the Sangguniang Panglungsod, and the CLB community were present in the blessing and ribbon-cutting ceremony.
