This was highlighted during the "Hiraya ng CALABARZON: Natatanging Iskolar ng UNIFAST 2026" awarding ceremony held at De La Salle Lipa on May 18, in celebration of the 32nd Founding Anniversary of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
Among the 44 exceptional student scholars recognized across CALABARZON was Colegio ng Lungsod ng Batangas student scholar Yishin Dane Vigilia Gutierrez, who received a Certificate of Achievement from CHED Region IV under the Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST).
Recently, the CLB administration formally presented the recognition to Batangas City Mayor Marvey Mariño, honoring Gutierrez outstanding academic performance, exemplary leadership, and remarkable accomplishments as a beneficiary of programs under Republic Act No. 10931 or the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education (UAQTE) Act.
According to the citation, Gutierrez exemplified the qualities of a true UniFAST scholar through dedication, perseverance, integrity, and unwavering commitment to both academic and personal excellence.
The "Hiraya ng CALABARZON" recognition celebrates the inspiring achievements of student beneficiaries under UniFAST programs, including the Free Higher Education (FHE) Program, Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES), and Tulong Dunong Program (TDP).
The ceremony was graced by Lipa City Mayor Eric Africa, who reminded the scholars to use their achievements not only for personal success but also in service to their communities.
"To our Outstanding UniFAST Grantees, congratulations. This is your time, take it, make it count. Let your hiraya become direction, let it become discipline, let it become service," he stated.
The event served as a celebration not only of academic excellence but also of resilience, hope, and the transformative power of accessible education for every Filipino learner.
