August 21, 2024 - The CLIMB staff gathered at the CLB audio-visual room today to launch the General Assembly for the Academic Year 2024-2025.
Dr. Dolores D. Borras, Vice President for Academic Affairs, delivered the keynote address, underscoring three fundamental journalism principles: freedom, respect, and high expectation. Dr. Borras urged student journalists to use their freedom responsibly, adhere to deadlines and editorial feedback, and maintain rigorous standards in their work.
Following her address, Mr. Jericho S. Alay, Adviser of the student publication, provided an inspirational message to motivate and engage the new staff members. Stephanie C. Hernandez, Associate Editor of CLIMB, presented the statement of purpose.
Editor-in-Chief Yishin Dane V. Gutierrez then introduced the newly appointed editorial board, marking a fresh chapter for the publication. Karl Adrian R. San Miguel, Online Content Editor, added a creative touch by presenting CLIMB members in a series of distinctive poses, highlighting their unique roles within the team.
The assembly concluded with a lookback at the previous year’s accomplishments and a ceremony recognizing outstanding contributors for their exceptional performance.
Looking ahead, the publication plans to expand its digital presence with interactive content and explore new multimedia formats to engage a broader audience. The editorial board also aims to increase collaboration with other campus organizations to enhance the quality and diversity of their reporting.
