September 17, 2024 - The 2nd General Assembly of YACAP-U gathered Clbians and youth advocates to strengthen leadership and mental health awareness within the community. Presided over by Ms. Nylamre Shaira A. Berberabe and Mr. Romel E. Abella, the event was welcomed with open arms by Dr. Dolores D. Borras, whose heartfelt remarks set the tone for an inspiring day. Alongside her, Dr. Mary Ann E. Antenor delivered a moving message that resonated with attendees about leadership, resilience, and the importance of unity.
Student leader and resource speaker, Mr. Christian Rey L. Sumanga, shared his insights on the development of youth leadership in the Philippines. He emphasized the importance of understanding oneself, trusting one's subordinates, and empowering co-leaders. Drawing from his experiences in leading organizations, Mr. Sumanga highlighted the role of resilience and service in overcoming challenges and creating a brighter future for all. He also touched on the values of PAGMAYA, which embodies leadership as a means to serve the greater good.
A key highlight of the event was the election of new YACAP-U officers, led by Mr. Ivan James Canal. The assembly also celebrated the organization's accomplishments, developments, and active involvement with the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO). Members were encouraged to wear a heartfelt ribbon of purpose, symbolizing the fight against suicide and promoting a message of love and support.
Former YACAP-U officers expressed gratitude for the support they received, while Ms. Arrabelle E. Bagsit, YACAP-U adviser, gave a touching speech about the organization's ongoing journey toward promoting mental health and creating a warm, inclusive environment for all members. The assembly left participants feeling uplifted and empowered to continue building a positive future together.
