Ever since elementary school, Princess Luden has been engaged in quiz bee competitions, which took her to different levels and eventually encouraged her to participate in the Philippine Statistics Quiz. Despite her educational background not fully aligning with this journey, she conquered fear through faith.
She believes that wherever she is, it has always been God who destined her to certain paths. Regardless of how many responsibilities she carries, she was motivated to represent Colegio ng Lungsod ng Batangas. It was an opportunity that reopened doors to reconnect with her old friends in PSA, who cheered her throughout the process, and a way to uncover her potential.
As the competition began, nervousness rushed through her. From her perspective, only a few of the topics she reviewed appeared, and most of the questions in the quiz bee focused on application and comprehension. In her mind, she estimated her score to be only four, which added more pressure. To advance to round 3, she needed to accumulate 10 points. When the scores were announced, the pressure intensified, until they flashed the results and she saw her number highlighted in green.
That moment truly made Princess smile.
Self-doubt may have been present, but determination became her invisible crown. Princess Luden secured 5th place in the 30th Philippine Statistics Quiz. For her, the recognition was not just an achievement but proof of God’s guidance and wisdom.
Looking back before the competition, encouragement from Ms. Crystal Jade M. Aguilar greatly fueled her eagerness to give her best in the quiz bee that brushed away worry and pressure. A little encouragement from old friends also boosted her confidence.
All the hard work, early preparations, continuous reviews, exhaustion, and sleepless nights paid off. It was all worth it as she surrendered to His guidance—but the experience itself taught her perseverance.
As Princess Luden states: “Winning is not the only measure of success. Losing only happens when someone wastes the opportunity without showing their abilities.” The feeling of fear and doubt is normal, but it does not overpower true ability. Joining competitions like the Philippine Statistics Quiz is a privilege to show what a person can do. Princess believes that winning 5th place is just a bonus; the real victory lies in the lessons she can carry forward.
And here’s the secret revealed: the competition was kept hidden from her family, but the success was celebrated as she—Princess Luden Alquiros, a first-year college student in the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, embraced her winning moment as the fifth placer in the 30th Philippine Statistics Quiz. A princess who shined through curiosity, the will to embrace freedom, and the courage to welcome change which we call herstory.
