CLB Joins LHEPC 2024: AI and Ethics: Shaping th Future of campus Journalism in the Digital Age

Colegio ng Lungsod ng Batangas joined the delegates of Region IV-A as they tried their mettle in different fields of journalism at the 19th Luzon Higher Education Press Conference held at Villa Caceres Hotel, Naga City from March 19-21, 2024. CLIMB’s Editor-In-Chief Catherine Narzoles was the school’s representative for the competitions that drew 850 delegates from 146 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from all over Luzon. She was accompanied by CLIMB Lead Adviser, Mr. Jericho S. Alay.

At the end of the 3-day conference, Region IV-A finished 3rd over-all behind Region III who was adjudged over-all champion and Region V who finished 1st runner-up. On the group categories CALABARZON finished 2nd over-all and 4th over-all in the individual events. The press conference was a test for every journalist and school as they battle it out with group categories (tabloid, magazine, newsletter and literary folio) as well as the individual events both in English and Filipino. The comeback of the Annual Mr. and Ms. LHEPC also showcased beauty and brains of every journalist from all over Luzon. This was a historical moment for CLB as it marked the first time the college has qualified for the Luzonwide competitions. It was a stepping stone indeed for the academe to push forward for more in the years to come.

It was also a momentous event for LHEPC as it finally came back after a hiatus due to the pandemic. The event also saw the acceptance of Region IV-A Calabarzon as the host of the 20th LHEPC in 2025. It is without a doubt that campus journalism remains to be strong and will continue its ascent to greater heights in the foreseeable future.
